Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Understanding the technical details to write the initial draft of the patent
- Hands-on experience in preparing and filing Information Technology related patents
- Conducting patent search projects to the expected qualities and in a timely manner
- Should be able to create a differentiation if required to make the invention patentable
- Using technical background and experiences to understand invention or patent disclosures;
- Conduct patent and non-patent literature searches for generating technology landscapes, patentability, freedom to operate, validity/invalidity, and infringement reports
- Analyzing patent and non-patent literature for the above purposes;
- Analyzing patent claims and descriptions for claims mapping, portfolio analysis, patent categorization, etc.
- Perform market research on what the competition is working on
- Provide a periodic report on the market competition as far as patents and research
- Tie up with leading researchers in the mapping and navigation space
- Connect with universities and colleges that have departments in GIS and Navigation.
Qualifications:
- Technical understanding of the invention disclosure, and identification of search focus.
- Problem-solving skills in constructing and conducting patent searches using search strings.
- Skills to analyze results and complete search reports in a timely manner.
- Excellent written and oral communication (in English) skills
- Excellent comprehension and presentation skills
- Self-motivated, responsible attitude with the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and teamwork
- Excellent knowledge of Patents laws of major jurisdictions, patent databases, and technical domains
- Prior experience in patent search & analytics will be preferred. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other tools.
